Happy Birthday Mommy!!!

So I was trying to sneak downstairs yesterday to make this post, but it's really hard when you don't know how to walk and someone is constantly watching you! Daddy's taking a nap right now so I was able to sneak away. Plus it took me awhile to hack into mommy's account!!

So yesterday was my mommy's birthday! I didn't get to hang out with her during the day because she had to go to work. That made me sad. But I was so excited to spend the evening with her that I couldn't fall asleep for my afternoon nap. I just wanted mommy to come home. We had a fun evening but I think I was a little on the cranky side because I was just soooooo darn excited!

I think she is the best mommy in the world. I know I have been on this planet for almost 11 months, but I still think she is awesome. She listens and talks to me. She also takes really good care of me (my diapers have been really stinky lately since I have been sick).

I think daddy is waking up so I better finish this up. Mommy I think you are totally cool and I love you a lot. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Merry Christmas to FLU

Abigail's first Christmas was unique by far!! We had an absolute blast going up to visit with my family in the snow at Lake Arrowhead. It was so beautiful and I loved throwing snowballs at my husband and getting in snow fights with Trisha and her boyfriend, Chris! We also were really blessed to be able to spend time with my mom's best friend Ellen and her husband Ken. We had a really great time with each other and there was a lot of laughter in the cabin!

Everything was a picture perfect Christmas until...the FLU came! Robbie and Abby were both sick on Christmas day, and more than I've ever seen my little baby get! She literally would just lay in my arms and her head would just fall on my shoulder. She didn't get to do much on Christmas because she was sleeping most of the time. Then it got my mom and Trisha sick the day after Christmas and then today I just heard that my dad and our friend Ken, from Bakersfield, also got sick. Apparently back at home, the Morales' were also all sick on Christmas day. Debbie, Steve, and Andy all had the same things going on. Horrible!

We made up for it with Abby though the day after Christmas. She seemed a bit better and at least had some energy to tear at some wrapping and play with some of her new toys. We hope you all had a much healthier Christmas and we are wishing you the very best in the coming New Year!!!

Double Decker Bus Party

This year we were so honored to be invited to the Kyles' Annual Double Decker Bus Party. They rent a bus and all the guests get to ride it around to local neighborhoods that decorate a lot for Christmas. In our area, there are two places that are a must-see during the holiday season: Christmas Card Lane (right down the street from my parents' house) and Candy Cane Lane (in Poway). Both locations are awesome with decorating outside and it is truly a unique experience to visit. Even more unique though for us this year, since we got to view them all via the second floor of the bus! Even Abigail came with us, all bundled up like a snow bunny. She was definitely not fond of the cold wind and air, but since it was around her bed time, she just decided to take advantage of some shut-eye in our arms. We had an absolute blast!! Thank you Kyle family!!

Annual Kalla Girls Cookie Bake!

Every year my mom, my sister and I get together one day and bake a bunch of cookies. Not just one or two batches, but around seven or eight or so and we pass them out to neighbors and friends. We started this tradition way back when we were living in Bakersfield and have done it every year since! We had a new Kalla girl join us this year and we had a blast having Abigail in the kitchen with us. She was excited listening to all the different noises and smelling all the new wonderful scents. We love this tradition of ours and we wouldn't miss it each year!

There was even an added extra sugar and spice and everything nice!

All I want for Christmas are my two front teeth...

After what seemed like FOREVER, Abigail has finally cut her first tooth!!! HALLELUJAH!! So watch your fingers.... :)

They call me mellow yellow

Abigail Grace is about the most mellow baby girl I know! No fail, wherever we are (away from home & grandparents' houses), she is so chill. She just takes everything in and loves simply watching everyone and the things around her.

Today we went to our first high school basketball game together. We went and watched Robbie's JV Westview team beat Mission Hills. She actually sat on my lap all the way through the first half. Then the Varsity girls came in to warm up for their game after Robbie's and once they saw Abby, I had a swarm of high schoolers around me. I let them take her down and play with her with the rest of the team. I think they realized that it takes a lot of energy to make Abby laugh or smile when she's around strangers. I could see them all trying to make faces and do something silly for her, so they could get a giggle from her. But like I said earlier, the girl is just so chill. She just is mellow as can be. One of the parents leaned over to me in the stands and said that my baby wasn't setting a good example of how challenging having a baby is, and I had to agree. She's so easy-going and relaxed.

Earlier on in the week, we got to enjoy some time doing one of my family's favorite traditions - decorating the Christmas tree. So, before helping my family at my parent's house, Abby helped me decorate our own tree. She even helped me pick out where to put her "A" ornament. I was lucky to even get her close to the tree with the ornament. Remember how fearful she was with pumpkins? Well, the girl has something against either holidays or the objects that help signify the holidays. She was scared of our tree when I put it up. It took a lot of coaxing to get her to touch it and realize that it wasn't going to hurt her. So funny!

When we're over at my parent's house, what's really cute is to watch my sister play with Abigail. She loves her "Auntie T" (as my mom would call her...we're going to let Abby and Trisha both choose what she should be called ;) Abby loves playing hide and seek with Trisha's phone or taking pens or papers out of Trisha's hands while she's trying to write.
