Pumpkin Guts!

This week Abigail has been having fun carving and trying out her creativity. From helping Daddy to helping Grandpa, she's been laughing, making a mess, and enjoying a new experience that I'm sure is going to be a fun tradition in the Morales house. We started with our own pumpkin at our house. This is where Abby coined the name "pumpkin guts" for the insides of the pumpkin. Literally, she was the first to say it (or something like it - which is what we interpretted it to mean). This is our pumpkin before Abby got into it...



Abby was flinging the "pumpkin guts" all over and so she got some stuck in her hair and on her face...

Ok, so funny thing...I had just changed Abby's diaper before we got started and so by the time we went to bed (only about 30 min. after carving) she didn't need a diaper change again, so I put her to bed without changing. Only to find in the morning that Robbie had stuck a pumpkin seed in her diaper as a joke thinking that I was going to see it before putting her down to bed. Poor baby went to sleep with a pumpkin seed in her diaper...

Grandma and Grandpa heard about how much fun we had carving our pumpkin, so they wanted to get in on the activity. Abby, now having more experience, knew exactly what she wanted to do with the "pumpkin guts"...

And Abby wanted to try and feed Grandpa all the seeds...

Celebrating Birthdays!

The last couple of weekends have been all about celebrating birthdays. Last weekend we got to celebrate Abby's future husband's 2nd birthday. Isaiah had a wonderful choo choo birthday party for all of his friends, complete with a train ride at Old Poway Park. Then this weekend we celebrated my dad's birthday, where Abby actually started to sing the birthday song on her own....absolutely precious. And then yesterday we got to celebrate Abby's friend O's 5th birthday at Bates Nut Farm. We got to visit the pumpkin patch again, with everyone else in San Diego county (that's an exageration), and we had a great time with friends!

We got to see baby Lexi with mommy Stephanie!! So adorable!!

And we all got to board the Midland Railroad's train together... they had to open up a third car for us at the end...

I didn't take many pictures at O's birthday party...plenty of photographers there, I'm sure they will post some pics on Jon and Jenetta's blog soon... in the meantime, Abby enjoyed playing with the pumpkins again!

I'm Cute...dimple, dimple

Last weekend, we had the chance to go up and visit my Aunt Char and Uncle Bob with my sister and my mom. Abby was spoiled again and received some cute things. But the best thing we got out of our visit, besides seeing family of course, was that Abby now knows the family "tradition" with "I'm cute!" Let me explain...when I was little, as well as my sister, my family would ask us if we were cute, and picture perfectly we would respond by putting our finger in our cheek dimple, twisting it and saying back, "I'm cute!" Obviously there's more pack to the punch if you're there in person to see it. Well, now Abby has it down as well. See the pictures below... Punkin!

This year, Abby is not affraid of pumpkins!! Yay!! We went to Bates Nut Farm last weekend and we had a great time, besides the really hot weather we had. She loved pointing out all the farm animals and scarecrows, and really enjoyed looking at all the different kinds and sizes of pumpkins! We bought a decent sized one for the house and now when we come down the stairs in the morning, she squeals with delight and literally yells, "Punkin! Punkin!" while pointing at it and waking up the neighbors ;) This autumn has already started off really well for us!

Refreshing

This weekend has been a bit of fresh air for us and has definitely gotten us in better spirits to take on this upcoming crazy season in our life. Not to mention the current problems that we face, but schedule changes will make it more and more difficult to get family time in and we were so fortunate to have a lot of that this weekend. We revisited a wonderful getaway location (you can check out our last post from Newport Beach in May '08 here) and it was again a wonderful way to unwind. Abby is so much fun right now and she certainly knows how to melt our hearts and make us smile, no matter what issues lie ahead of us!

We started the weekend at the fabulous Fall Party thrown by our friends David and Courtney and I'm sure Courtney will post pics from her beautiful gathering on her blog here. We were glad we stayed in town for the party and head up in the evening to Newport Beach. Abby had such a great time following Isaiah around his house and playing with all of his toys. She often says "Eye", which I've now learned means Isaiah, and she usually says "choo choo" afterwards too since Isaiah has "choo choo's" on the brain!

Once in Newport Beach, we really had a lot of time to just relax and enjoy our little family. The condo had these really great curtains that Abby found extremely fascinating since she could see through them. Watch the short video....she's just cute...

There was a playground close by and she loved climbing, running, and sliding!

I think this was one of Robbie's favorite parts of the whole weekend. He got a lot of really great play time with his daughter. This video is SO adorable and really makes us remember the fun times we had this weekend! (Thank you again Debbie and Steve for helping make this possible!)

And this is just too much...Robbie has taught her to do a little rump shake, shake. Sorry Robbie, Abby's is much cuter!!
